Laura Grayson is the Manager of Sharp Hospice Care's Hospice Homes and Intake. She received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As a clinical social worker, she has over 20 years of experience in social work as a therapist and instructor in a variety of settings, including: community, clinical, residential treatment and academia. She has been in a leadership role with Sharp HospiceCare since 2000. In her current role, Laura ensures that Hospice's mission of improving our patients comfort through symptom management as life draws to a close is the driving force is engrained in the culture of the Hospice Homes and reflected in everything we do. She brings her specialization of social work into her leadership by supporting staff as they help patients and families make decisions and choices that affect the dying process, restoring dignity and a sense of control to the family system.
Suzanne Degner is the Social Work and Bereavement Services Supervisor at Sharp HospiceCare of San Diego, CA. She received her Masters of Social Work degree from Boston University in 2001. Her experiences include her roles as a Child Protective Services (CPS) social worker, Drug and Alcohol counselor, Policy and Procedure Development for Social Services Consultant, and Medical Social Worker for OB/Maternity/NICU. In her current role, Suzanne is equipping her staff to personalize, humanize and demystify the end-of-life care experience for patients and families. Her passion for end-of-life care is reflected in Sharp HealthCare's mission to be the best place to work, receive care, and practice medicine.
Rikki N. Hooper, MSN, MBA, FNP-BC ACHPN began her Rikki began her nursing career in England in 1987 and brought a passion for providing a goal based approach to patient care to Flat Rock in 1991. Having spent almost 15 years caring for patients in ICU she decided to pursue her FNP and transitioned to caring for people with chronic illnesses. She has been working at Four Seasons for 9 years as a Nurse Practitioner in the Palliative Care program, providing care for patients in various settings. Additionally she has taken on leadership roles within the Palliative Care team, providing mentoring to new Providers and at times managing scheduling, QI, reports and daily management of the team in collaboration with the Medical Director. Rikki currently holds the position of Director of Palliative Care professional Development.
Karen Rubel, is the VP of Development at Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation. Ms. Rubel has been instrumental in developing programs to enhance the experience of the hospice's patients and their loved ones. Aside from leading the hospice team in forging relationships with large donors and health care entities, she has been instrumental in enhancing fundraising events and community outreach programs. The milestones here are tremendous, with thousands of individuals in the Southern Nevada community being helped at a sensitive time in their lives. Ms. Rubel also achieved a milestone by recently overseeing the team that developed iRefer DR, the first, national "customized hospice app" for medical professionals.
Brandi Allison, BSN in Nursing from Western Carolina University specialized in long term care - functioned as a charge nurse, MDS Coordinator, ADON, Staff Development and DON for the first 10 years of her career. MDS Coordinator, ADON, Staff Development and DON. In November of 2004 transitioned to hospice and Four Seasons Compassion for Life. Received CHPN (Certified Hospice Palliative Nurse Certification) in 2006 and became a certified train the train in 2009. Current role with Four Seasons CFL is as the Director of Clinical Services for Henderson County. Embarked on the Leader's Journey in February of 2013.
