Our first guest Edward Schreyer is the chairman and CEO of QMetrics Technologies. This imaging core laboratory provides advanced imaging analysis services like turning MRI's into 3D so doctors can use them to design treatment options. Schreyer has extensive product, marketing and management experience in both early-stage companies and large corporations, including PeopleSoft, Silicon Graphics, 3Com and One Touch Systems. Under his guidance, Qmetrics has grown to include a staff with 60 years of collective experience transforming ideas and technology into commercial products. Edward is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has contributed to scientific and managerial publications.

Safe Journey is our nonprofit of the month on The CEO Hour. This agency in the suburbs of Rochester NY helps end the terror of domestic abuse. Alli O'Malley and Jerry Elman explain how this counseling center works to break the cycles of violence that permeate our homes and society. Safe Journey counsels and protects women who are abused, and educates community groups and young people to eradicate domestic violence once and for all. It relies on donations from the public to survive and is having a fundraiser in March 2014.

Mike Vadala leads the 70 year old institution in Upstate New York known as the Summit Federal Credit Union. Started as the Rochester Telephone Credit Union, the Summit has grown to 80,000 members with 19 offices including branches in Buffalo and Syracuse. Like other credit unions, the Summit is a nonprofit financial institution owned and operated  exclusively by its members. There are no outside stockholders who require a return on their investment so it can offer more benefits like low fees, competitive loan rates, and higher dividends on savings. Vadala started as an auditor for the credit unions and then began his career with the Summit 30 years ago. He has a fascinating story to tell so listen in.
